on cliques, being influenced, appeasement and bowing out gracefully
For the record: There are people I support more than others, but I place consumer advocacy above any person or group. I support the free exchange of ideas and dissenting opinions, and letting people do their own thing. I hate publicly influencing people to take up specific stances or sides of an issue, including calling for people to “denounce” something.
I discourage following all advice given by #GamerGate’s louder voices without discernment, because oftentimes they like to state an idea won’t work with certainty, but they end up being wrong; thus, I encourage people to initiate the change they want to see themselves, and to ignore naysayers. Have respect for yourself; this is not a hivemind.
I appreciate any time and fair coverage given to #GamerGate by pro and neutral industry people, but I don’t care for condescension or arrogance. I don’t support public figures who are fake “pros” or “neutrals” (i.e. publicly announce dialogue with consumers, but actually play both sides, then try to lecture consumers as if they know what’s best). We are not here to appease people looking in; we are here for gamers and consumers first, then for the community and industry who are pro-consumer.
I don’t care for people who throw tantrums because their ideas aren’t getting support or because they are getting criticized. We are not here to appease you. If you believe in something, stop caring about what other people think and just do it. Try to do something about it instead of complaining or blaming others. If you’re so frustrated that you don’t even want to try, then maybe you should support ethics in games journalism and consumers in a different way that suits you. Or, maybe it’s not actually a priority for you. If you must part ways, we expect you to maturely agree to disagree. Being bitter and burning bridges is pure faggotry, especially when you look back on it and realize most of your antagonizers were actually trolls; the rest of us were trying to ignore your drama.
Lastly, I do not support blocklists which block KFC, creator of our generation’s most important gravy.
DOGS. NO MASTERS.
